TGIF: Celebrate Your Week

Happy Friday, readers! Friday is my favorite day of the week. Yes, even working from home and setting my own schedule, I still freak out over Fridays.

I want to get you guys in on the Friday fun. Every Friday on Naturally Ever After, I’ll share my biggest reflections, inspirations and favorite finds from the week and ask you to do the same!

Okay, I should have warned you…this isn’t the Friday happy-hour kind of fun. (I mean, it’s leading to that.) This is the self-awareness-and-reflection kind of fun. Are you still with me? Anyone?

Good! Here’s what TGIF looks like:

  • T – Truth: Tell me something you learned about yourself this week.
  • G – Growth: Describe one way in which you grew this week, whether it’s in the direction of a goal or something unexpected.
  • I – Inspiration: List one thing that inspired you this week.
  • F – Fun: Talk about what you did to have FUN this week!

I’ll start us off…

Apparently, I’m a “badass boss lady!” My dear friend Elise used this term to describe me on her blog, and it surprised me. Elise is incredibly smart, inspiring and courageous, and I take her words as a huge compliment. She is going through her own journey of self-awareness, and her latest post shows how she’s doing with accepting limitations and vulnerability.

Obviously, a badass boss lady 🙂

I never could see myself as a badass boss lady, let alone imagine that someone else could see me as that. When I told Kyle, he told me how proud he is of me for being a good boss to myself. In the online, self-employed world, it’s so easy to feel like you’re not doing enough. But these words made me see that yes, I am showing up and doing what I can each day. And I can be happy with that.

My goal is to help as many women as possible to manage stress and anxiety, to overcome negative body image and start fully accepting themselves as they are. This week, I taught my first public essential oils class and had an incredible, personal conversation about stress and health with my two girlfriends who came. Of course I have business goals as well, but the connection we had in the class reminded me of my purpose in being a wellness advocate. I love connecting with people on this topic, and being a scaredy cat of public speaking, every class I do helps me grow.

Two podcast episodes this week really inspired me. The Model Health Show is one of my favorite podcasts. I’ve been listening to Shawn and Jade for about 2 years and love their upbeat, informative episodes. Their bonus episode this week featuring James Altucher really gave me some insight into accepting rejection and the importance of being an idea machine.

The other one is from a podcast I recently started listening to called the Fearless Rebelle Radio. Body image and confidence coach Summer Innanen interviewed Krystal Thompson, who is a professional yoga therapist, and their conversation opened my eyes to what the body positive movement really is all about. As a white woman in Iowa, it’s easy to overlook diversity in the body positive movement, but this episode encourages inclusiveness. Hell yeah!

I’ve made an official Girls’ Group here in Des Moines with the girls I’ve met through Kyle. When I moved here 4 years ago, I was introduced to this group of girls as Kyle’s friends’ girlfriends. Now they’re my friends, (okay, our friends) and we have monthly girls’ dates to celebrate girl time. This past weekend we went to Sky Zone in Des Moines and jumped on trampolines for an hour before making margaritas at my girl Red’s house. Seriously, so much fun!
